The rigorous training and evaluation program is open to active duty soldiers, men and women, at the individual level through master sergeant, warrant officer 1 through chief warrant officer 4 and second lieutenant through major.

Enlisted soldiers must have a GT (General Technical) score of 105, or higher, on the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery, while officers must be a commissioned officer or warrant officer graduate, branch-specific to the Basic Officer Leader Course.

Last year, the Ranger School opened to women for the first time for pilot testing Today the school is open to both men and women.

Applicants who pass the unit’s screening will be invited to attend a Guardsman evaluation and selection program held at Fort Benning.

RASP 1 is approximately eight weeks long, and is required for enlisted soldiers in the ranks of private through sergeant. RASP 2 is approximately three weeks long, and is required of applicants for the rank of Staff Sergeant through Major.
